Essential South Africa – 8 nights
Cape Town - Mabula Game Reserve - Sun City - Johannesburg
Day 1: Cape Town – Arrival
After clearing customs and immigration at Cape Town International Airport, make your way through the terminal. Your representative greets you at the ‘meeting point’ at the exit and transfers you comfortably to your hotel (check in after 1400 hrs). The rest of the evening is free to explore Cape Town on your own. Enjoy dinner at leisure at one of the many restaurants in the area.
Day 2: Cape Town – Half Day City Tour
Today you will be taken on a half day City Orientation Tour. Set against the spectacular backdrop of Table Mountain, Cape Town is rich in historical and cultural heritage and natural beauty. Some of the highlight stops on this tour will be the Company Gardens, the Castle of Good Hope and the lively Greenmarket Square– where you can purchase arts and crafts from all overAfrica. You will also take a trip through the colourful Bo Kaap area, known as the home of the “Cape Malays”. We then take a trip upCape Town’s landmark, Table Mountain (weather permitting). The remainder of the day will be spent at leisure at the vibrant V&A Waterfront, which offers a wide variety of shops, restaurants and entertainment.
Day 3: Cape Town – Cape Point & Peninsula Tour
After breakfast head out for a full day excursion to the magnificent scenery and wildlife of the Cape Peninsula. This tour includes a boat trip to Duiker Island, where thousands of Cape Fur Seals live, and later a lunch in the cosy Naval village of Simon’s Town. We will visit Boulders Beach to see one of South Africa’s two land-based African Penguin colonies and then continue along the False Bay coastline to the Cape of Good Hope Nature Reserve. Have your photos taken at the most south western tip of the African continent and enjoy an invigorating walk, or leisurely funicular trip, up to the Cape Point lighthouses to admire the dramatic cliffs and amazing views. The day ends at the beautiful Kirstenbosch National Botanical Gardens. Dinner tonight will be at leisure.
Day 4: Cape Town – Mabula Game Reserve
After breakfast and check out, you will be collected from your hotel and transferred to Cape Town International Airport for your flight to Johannesburg. On arrival at O.R.Tambo International Airport, Johannesburg, a representative will meet and transfer you to Mabula Game Reserve in the Limpopo Province. On arrival at Mabula Game Reserve you will be welcomed and given a brief orientation session.
Once you have settled into your room, relax and unwind before an afternoon game drive; this will last approximately 2-3 hours and a stop will be made along the way for sundowners. On return to the lodge, enjoy dinner.
Day 5: Mabula Game Reserve
Today starts with an early morning game drive, which will give you a chance to witness the early risers of the bush. This game experience will contrast to the evening drive the previous night, showcasing the savannah landscape at dawn. The rest of the day will be spent at leisure; you can relax at the lodge’s swimming pool or possibly indulge in an optional spa treatment. In the afternoon depart on another evening game drive, hopefully spotting the animals that eluded you the previous day. You will then return to the lodge in time to freshen up before for dinner.
Day 6: Mabula Game Lodge – Sun City
Today after your morning game drive and breakfast you will be collected from the lodge and transferred via road to Sun City in the North West Province.
Upon arrival at Sun City you will be taken to your hotel of choice and spend the remainder of the day at leisure. Sun City is known as the entertainment Mecca of the North West Province, offering world class restaurants, wonderful entertainment facilities, two leading golf courses, a dazzling casino and a safari experience second to none. Check in at your hotel and enjoy dinner at one of the many restaurants at the resort.
Day 7: Sun City – optional activities
Today, you have the whole day at leisure to explore Sun City and all it has to offer. There are many optional activities that you can enjoy. Optional activities at Sun City include: watersports, the beach in the Valley of the Waves, a visit to the exciting Kwena Gardens Crocodile Sanctuary, learning about the cultural of the local people at the Motseng Cultural Village, getting some retail therapy at the variety of high end shops, indulging in high tea at the Palace Hotel, hiking the trails in the gardens of the Lost City, or playing a round of golf at one of the world-class 18-hole golf courses. You could also go on an exciting safari excursion into the Pilanesberg National Park, home to the Big 5 as well as many other interesting animals.
Day 8: Sun City – Johannesburg via Gold Reef City
Today, after breakfast and checkout, you will be transferred to Johannesburg. En-route, we will stop for a tour of Gold Reef City. This interesting attraction is a reconstruction of 19th century Johannesburg. Go on an underground tour of a gold mine as well as watch molten gold being poured. Gold Reef City also has an amusement park, which has more than thirty adrenaline-boosting rides like the Giant Wheel, Anaconda and Tower of Terror. The ‘city’ also boasts a casino, as well as many restaurants and shops. Transfer to your hotel. Check in, and enjoy the evening at leisure.
Day 9: Johannesburg – Departure
After breakfast, you will be collected at your hotel and transferred to the O.R. Tambo International Airport, Johannesburg, to connect with your outbound flight.

Day 4: Cape Town – Oudtshoorn: Safari Ostrich Farm
Today we travel to Oudtshoorn via Route 62, a beautiful, scenic route known as the longest Wine Route in the world. Oudtshoorn is the ‘Ostrich capital’ and we will visit an Ostrich Farm to learn about these interesting birds. Arrival at the hotel is in the late afternoon and there will be time to relax before dinner.
Day 5: Oudtshoorn & Knysna
Today after breakfast we will take a tour of the Cango Caves, an incredible limestone cave network. Then we will visit the Cheetah and the Crocodile Parkat the Cango Wildlife Ranch. We will continue to Knysna, nestled on the banks of a beautiful lagoon in the heart of the Garden Route and known for its oysters. Enjoy a cruise followed by dinner on the lagoon.
Day 6: George – Johannesburg – Sun City
Today after breakfast you will be collected at your hotel and transferred to George Airport for your flight to Johannesburg. Upon arrival in Johannesburg you will be met by a representative who will transfer you to Sun City Resort.
Upon arrival at Sun City you will be taken to your hotel of choice and will spend the remainder of the day at leisure. Sun City is known as the entertainment Mecca of the North West Province, offering world class restaurants, wonderful entertainment facilities, two leading golf courses, a dazzling casino and a safari experience second to none. Check in at your hotel and enjoy dinner at one of the many restaurants at the resort. The resort has various restaurants offering Indian, Italian as well as wonderful seafood restaurants.
Day 7: Sun City – optional activities
