The United States has a broad range of climates, varying from the tropical rain forest and savanna of Hawaii and Florida to the arctic and tundra climates of Alaska.

The Southwest is covered by large expanses of desert and is the hottest and driest region in the country. Along the Pacific Coast, California experiences a Mediterranean type climate. The Pacific Northwest however is one of the wettest parts of the United States and is densely forested. The Rocky Mountains, Cascades, and Sierra Nevada have typical highland climates.

Weather wise, the best time to visit Alaska is Jun – Aug when the days are long and warm. Hawaii has good weather all year round, although rainfall tends to be higher between December and March.
